Consolidating Goods from Multiple Manufacturers —
Timely Communication and Negotiation
Occasionally, clients require more than just a single product; they need consolidated shipments—combining various products into a single container—which necessitates cooperation and coordination among multiple suppliers.
We recently had a client inquire about rock wool boards. However, the client requested that these boards be shipped alongside other goods—specifically, loaded into a single container—with transportation handled by a freight forwarder designated by the client. This arrangement required us to carefully calculate the remaining container space and precisely manage the quantities of the various goods involved.
The client is a trader from the Dominican Republic who, in addition to our rock wool boards, also required generators and elevator components. After reaching an agreement regarding the rock wool boards, we requested the contact details for the other two suppliers involved. This allowed us to coordinate specific logistical details and ensure that the combined shipments from all three parties would fit perfectly into a single 40HQ container.
Throughout this process, we maintained active communication with the other two manufacturers, inquiring about their production completion timelines and the packaged dimensions of their goods. This enabled us to verify the exact quantity of rock wool boards required on our end and ensure that our production and shipment were completed as promptly as possible. Naturally, we encountered a few challenges along the way; for instance, if one supplier’s production was delayed beyond the original estimate, the shipping schedules for the other two parties would be affected—a situation that required us to coordinate and resolve matters in consultation with the client's designated freight forwarder.
Ultimately, the entire process proceeded quite smoothly, largely because we maintained open channels of communication throughout. We were able to discuss and resolve any potential changes or issues as they arose. Whether dealing with the other two suppliers or the client's designated freight forwarder, we ensured timely and effective communication, offering appropriate solutions that saved our client a great deal of trouble.
