New Green Building Wall – Sandwich Insulated Composite Wall
Ⅰ. Green Wall Characteristics
The Sandwich Insulated Composite Wall is a new, green, and environmentally friendly structure featuring significant advantages in energy savings and reduced consumption. Its outer skin is smooth and fine-textured, offering high strength, fall-off prevention, and excellent temperature resistance.
This wall system not only effectively protects the central insulation layer but also provides an aesthetic finish. It overcomes common quality issues like cracking and detachment found in traditional external wall finishes, thereby extending the building's service life and enhancing structural integrity. The insulation layer is located within the cavity between the inner and outer wall components, forming a novel insulation system. The design of the Sandwich Insulated Composite Wall allows for application in all types of wall structures.
Ⅱ. Structural Features
The sandwich wall typically uses a 50mm (approx. 2 inches) polyethylene panel or rock wool layer as the insulation core. The protective outer layer is constructed using decorative masonry blocks. Tensile steel mesh or tie rods are embedded within the structural layer, insulation layer, and protective layer, tightly bonding these three layers together.
The primary structural load of the external wall is borne by the thick inner structural layer. At each floor level within the ring beam, 9cm-high corbels are installed to support the outer protective layer. External forces acting on the protective layer face (including wind and seismic effects) are transferred to the structural layer via tension braces.
III. Manufacturing Process
The manufacturing process follows these steps:
Application & Significance:
Green insulated walls like this are widely used for thermal insulation in building exteriors, roofs, basements, and other areas. They are suitable for both new construction projects and energy-efficiency retrofits of existing buildings. With ongoing technological advancements and supportive policies, green composite insulation materials for walls will play an increasingly vital role in the construction sector, driving progress in building energy efficiency and sustainable development.
