Product Description

Dimensionally Stable Foam Glass Pipe Insulation

Our dimensionally stable foam glass pipe insulation uses a rigid cellular structure that helps retain its shape under suitable service conditions. The low coefficient of linear expansion and the sealed cell walls mean the sections do not swell, warp, shrink or sag when temperature changes, so the insulation stays tight around the pipe and keeps its thickness under sustained load. That stability is exactly what designers need when insulation must fit closely inside a fixed jacket or remain aligned over a long run.

Because the sections are inorganic and moisture resistant, they also avoid the movement that fibrous pipe insulation shows when it takes up water and dries out again. They are easy to cut to precise sizes, so joints stay tight and thermal bridging at the ends and fittings is kept to a minimum throughout the life of the plant.

Key Advantages

  • Rigid cellular structure retains shape in service
  • Low linear expansion, no swelling, warping or shrinkage
  • Maintains thickness under sustained load
  • Tight tolerances keep joints closed and reduce thermal bridging
  • Unaffected by moisture cycling that moves fibrous insulation
  • Inorganic and non-combustible for long life

Typical Applications

  • Long straight pipe runs and risers
  • Jacketed and pre-insulated piping
  • Cold-store and refrigeration piping
  • Hot process and steam piping
  • Prefabricated pipe insulation systems

Supply and Installation

The sections are supplied as pre-formed pieces in standard pipe sizes and can be cut, fitted and bonded on site with conventional tools. Every batch is produced from recycled glass under a controlled kiln process and inspected against the relevant standards before dispatch. The material is lightweight yet tough, easily handled by a single installer, and it is fully recyclable at the end of its long service life; it is produced without CFC or HCFC blowing agents. If you would like the full technical data sheet, the applicable test report or a project specific quotation, our team will gladly assist and advise on the most suitable size, thickness and grade for your piping system.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What does dimensional stability mean here?

A: It means the sections keep their thickness and shape under temperature changes and load, so the pipe insulation stays tight and performs as designed.

Q: Do the sections shrink or warp?

A: No. The rigid cellular glass structure has a low coefficient of linear expansion and does not swell, shrink, warp or sag in normal service.

Q: Why is stability important?

A: Stable sections keep joints tight and gaps closed, which prevents thermal bridging and loss of thermal performance over time.
