An industrial floor loads the insulation far beyond a domestic slab: plant, storage racks and moving equipment all bear on the same thin layer. The FL400 board is the heavy duty grade of the range at 400 kPa, specified as ground insulation under industrial and warehouse floors where dynamic loads must be carried without deformation or cracking. The high compressive strength also allows a thinner board for the same load, which keeps the floor build-up inside the design height.
The board is extruded with a dense skin that spreads point loads into the foam body, and the rebated edge keeps adjacent panels level so the screed above does not step at the joints. Dimensional stability within 1% at 70 C keeps the layer flat under a heated or sun exposed slab. The FL400 XPS board is supplied in standard sizes of L 1200 / 2400 mm, W 600 / 1200 mm, THK 30 - 140 mm, and the board can be cut on site with a fine toothed saw or a hot wire, which keeps the cut face closed.
Technical Data
Applications
Specified under heavy duty industrial slabs and warehouse floors, where a standard floor grade would compress.
- Heavy duty industrial floor slabs
- Warehouse floors with high storage loads
- Floors under forklift and trolley traffic
- Plant rooms and service areas
- Insulation below screed in unheated industrial buildings
Key Advantages
- 400 kPa compressive strength carries plant, storage and forklift loads.
- Thin sections reach the target U-value where floor height is fixed.
- Rebated edges keep panels level, so the screed does not step at joints.
- Closed cell foam keeps water uptake at 1.5% by volume or less.
- Service range of -50 to 75 C suits unheated and solar exposed floors.
The 400 kPa High Compressive Rigid Industrial Floor XPS Board is produced on the same continuous extrusion line as the rest of the FL400 range, so the cell structure and the declared figures do not change from order to order.
Installation Notes
- Boards are laid with joints staggered and edges fully engaged over the whole face.
- Surfaces in contact with adhesive or membrane are cleaned and primed before the board is bedded.
- Boards are cut oversize by 10 mm where a tight fit into a frame or reveal is needed, then trimmed.
- Finished layers are protected from site traffic until the covering layer is in place.
