MYREAL calcium silicate pipe sections are pre-formed from inorganic siliceous and calcareous materials through a high temperature, high pressure hydrothermal reaction. The MY170 and MY220 half-rounds stay within 1% dimensional change and 2% linear shrinkage, so the section keeps closing tightly around the pipe through repeated heat up and cool down on steam and process lines up to 650 C.
Technical Data
Application
Supplied as half-rounds for steam lines that start and stop often, where joint opening is the usual cause of heat loss and hot spots after a few cycles.
- Steam and condensate piping
- Boiler outlet and header insulation
- Process lines with frequent startup and shutdown
- Steam traced transfer lines in chemical plants
- Retrofit of insulated lines where old sections have opened at the joints
Key Advantages
- Dimensional stability within 1% keeps the section closed on the pipe through thermal cycling.
- Linear shrinkage within 2% limits joint opening at 650 C service.
- Rigid half-round holds a uniform thickness without sagging on vertical runs.
- Low chloride ion content, safe for stainless steel pipework.
- Thickness 30 - 100 mm on bore 22 - 720 mm covers most steam line schedules.
Standards and Compliance
- Manufactured to GB/T 5486 calcium silicate products standard under an ISO 9001 certified quality system
- GB/T 8624 Class A1 non-combustible, no flame spread and no dense smoke
- Low chloride ion content protects stainless steel and alloy pipework from chloride stress corrosion
- Low water absorption, performance is not affected by humidity
- Free of formaldehyde, benzene and other harmful substances
Installation Notes
- Fit half-rounds around the pipe with joints staggered between layers.
- Butt adjacent sections tightly and tape the joint before the next layer.
- Secure with stainless steel bands at 300 mm centres on vertical runs.
- Leave the designed expansion gap at anchors and guides only.
- Finish with aluminum cladding for weather protection outdoors.
