On a low energy wall the insulation has to earn its thickness. The WA150 board sits at the low end of the declared 0.026 to 0.035 W/(m.K) range, so a 40 mm layer delivers the U-value that would otherwise need a much thicker mineral board. That matters on renovation, where the facade cannot grow outward, and on timber frame walls where every millimetre of depth costs structure.
Both faces are planed flat after extrusion, which gives the adhesive a consistent surface and keeps the board thickness within tolerance across the sheet. The shiplap edge closes the joint, and the closed cells stop the board from taking up water behind the render, where a wet layer would quietly undo the U-value that was designed. The WA150 XPS board is supplied in standard sizes of L 1200 / 2400 mm, W 600 / 1200 mm, THK 30 - 140 mm, and the board can be cut on site with a fine toothed saw or a hot wire, which keeps the cut face closed.
Technical Data
Applications
Specified for adhesive bonded external wall insulation where the target U-value must be reached in the thinnest possible layer.
- Adhesive bonded ETICS external wall insulation
- Low energy and passive house wall upgrades
- Timber frame and steel frame wall build-ups
- Renovation where the facade depth is fixed
- Walls finished with thin coat render systems
Key Advantages
- Declared conductivity from 0.026 W/(m.K) across the XPS range, measured at 25 C.
- Planed faces give consistent adhesive contact and thickness tolerance.
- 40 mm reaches U-values that thicker mineral boards are needed for.
- Closed cells stop water uptake behind the render.
- Shiplap edges keep the insulation layer continuous across the facade.
Where a project needs one grade across several details, the Low Conductivity ETICS XPS Wall Board can be cut from the same sheet for walls, floors and edges, which keeps the specified values consistent. The Low Conductivity ETICS XPS Wall Board is stocked in the standard sizes listed above, and cut sizes are produced to the layout drawings supplied with the order. On site the Low Conductivity ETICS XPS Wall Board is handled as a finished product: no coating, no wrapping and no curing is needed before the next layer goes on.
Installation Notes
- Boards are laid with joints staggered and edges fully engaged over the whole face.
- Surfaces in contact with adhesive or membrane are cleaned and primed before the board is bedded.
- Boards are cut oversize by 10 mm where a tight fit into a frame or reveal is needed, then trimmed.
- Finished layers are protected from site traffic until the covering layer is in place.
